Why did you come to teach at PTCS? I came to Pui Tak Christian School because I believe God has called me here. What do you enjoy most about teaching? I enjoy being able to serve the children and watch them grow. What are your favorite moments with students? My favorite moments are seeing a child come to Christ and the "aha moments" when a child understands something he has been struggling with.

Family: I have my loving parents and three wonderful sisters. I am the second child of four girls! Why did you come to work at PTCS? I had a passion for children's ministry at a young age. After graduating college, I eagerly looked for a school to teach at, but God closed all the doors. Then, God unexpectedly opened the door to PTCS through my friend. Seeing that the vision at this school matched mine, my heart was drawn to PTCS, and I am now here! What do you enjoy most about teaching ? I am a learner myself, and through my teaching experiences, I have learned so much about teaching, the subjects I teach, and the students. I also love seeing how students grow, not only academically but also socio-emotionally. What are your favorite moments with students? I love having one-on-ones with my students, talking about their lives outside of the classroom, and playing soccer and tag with them during recess. There is a lot more to students’ lives than what we see in the classroom!

The new campus will double capacity, provide safe outdoor spaces, and create room for innovation and community impact. Project Nehemiah is more than a building—it’s a foundation for the future. The New Pui Tak Christian School Level 1 The first floor of PTCS will welcome our youngest learners and include the Chapel Stairs, community gathering area, cafeteria, library, and specialty classrooms. Discovery Grove, the Early Childhood Education outdoor play area, will be accessible through adjacent classrooms and a central door. Additionally, a Prayer Room will be available for staff and students, providing a quiet space for reflection and prayer. Level 2 On Level 2, Kindergarten through Middle School students will have their own floor, complete with a Multipurpose Gymnasium, Language Lab and Special Education classrooms. The level also features The W Square, a terraced outdoor space accessible through the gym, designed for older students to "Wonder" and "Wander" together in an open-air setting. A Closer Look Welcome Plaza For the first time in its history, PTCS can welcome families with a protected loading zone and dedicated parking spots for morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up. Chapel Stairs Upon entering the new Pui Tak Christian School, you will be greeted by the dramatic Chapel Stairs. Designed for independent study, communal gatherings, and collaborative conversations, the Chapel Stairs will inspire learning beyond the traditional classroom. Community Hall & Three Specialized Classrooms To the left of the Chapel Stairs will be the Community Hall—an open-concept space that includes the Cafeteria, Library, and provides access to the Science Lab, Art Studio, Music Room, and adjacent outdoor classrooms. Used both during and after school, these spaces foster hands-on learning, exploration, and innovation. The Gallery At PTCS, every space is intentionally designed for learning—including the hallways. The PTCS Super Ramp will seamlessly connect the first and second floors, featuring reading cubbies, workspaces, and books integrated underneath and around it to create dynamic learning nooks for students. Gross Motor Zone The Gross Motor Zone is a dedicated space designed to help young children develop coordination, balance, and strength through active play. Featuring safe, engaging equipment and open areas for movement, it promotes physical growth, builds confidence, and supports the development of essential motor skills for early learning. Seven Early Childhood Classrooms The new PTCS campus will include one infant classroom (6 weeks to 14 months), one toddler classroom (15 to 23 months), one 2-year-old classroom, two 3-year-old preschool classrooms, and two Junior Kindergarten classrooms. Eleven Elementary & Middle School Classrooms Kindergarten through 8th grade students will have their own dedicated level, accessible via the Chapel Stairs, open ramp (pictured), or elevator, providing a space designed for their growth and development. Gymnasium & Multi-Purpose Event Space This vibrant multipurpose space will host gym classes, after-school activities, and cherished traditions like Christmas Program, Thanksgiving Lunch, and all-school chapels. Why did you come to work at PTCS? I have been teaching in a Chicago public school for eight years. I wanted to start teaching at a Christian school to share Jesus' teachings and love with my students. God opened an opportunity for me to join the PTCS family, so I am very excited to participate in it! What do you enjoy most about teaching? I enjoy getting to know my students' personalities and creating relationships with them and their families. I love being a part of their learning growth and celebrating their success! What are your favorite moments with students? There are too many favorite moments with students, but one of my favorite ones is when I see and hear students start teaching a skill to others. It brings me joy to see students teaching and learning from one another.

A former member of the CCUC-North planting team and a dedicated volunteer at the Yunn Fook Home, Julia brings decades of experience in youth leadership, Sunday School education, and music ministry to her role. After returning to Chicago in 2024, she felt a clear calling to serve at PTCS, recognizing the school as a vital mission field for the Chinatown community. Julia is firmly committed to the school’s vision of providing a Christ-centered environment during the critical formative years of elementary and middle school. Her goal as a board member is to help students build a lasting biblical worldview while extending God’s love to their families and the broader community.

Overview Proposal Summary Principal Bonnie Ho's Open Letter Tax-Wise Giving Project Nehemiah Facebook Latest Updates Dear Friend, A blessed Easter to you and your families! And a praise report to you on project Nehemiah! With God’s provision, your support and prayers, on April 18, 2019, Pui Tak Christian School have closed on the property located on 3118-3140 S. Canal Street, Chicago, IL 60616 with the purchasing price of $3.53 million! We were able to close on the deal with over $2.4 million in donations, $300,000 bank loan and $850,000 in personal and organizational loans. The plan is to pay back the loans as quickly as possible before entering into the final phase of Project Nehemiah. In witnessing how God worked among people and gathered the resources together in the last 14 months, we have reasons to believe He is still at work. The school has budgeted 24 months from the closing of the property to prepare for the final phase of Project Nehemiah, that includes obtaining all the necessary permits, finishing architectural design and drawings, and fundraising for the construction of the school facility. There is much to be thankful for during this Easter season, I thank you for your partnership in this endeavor, God has blessed the school through you. Besides counting on your steadfast prayers, I also need your ideas and referrals. There are much to be done before the actual construction begins, please make referrals if you think there are certain people I should meet and please do not hold back your creative ideas. We will now be closing on the property at a $3.53 million purchase price instead of $3.68 million! And the closing day is April 18, 2019!
