Why did you come to teach at PTCS? I came to Pui Tak Christian School because I believe God has called me here. What do you enjoy most about teaching? I enjoy being able to serve the children and watch them grow. What are your favorite moments with students? My favorite moments are seeing a child come to Christ and the "aha moments" when a child understands something he has been struggling with.

Elementary Staff Angela Osgood 4th Grade Degrees: Science in Elementary Education, BS Hometown: Midvale, Ohio Family: Growing up, I was the youngest of 3; I have an older sister and an older brother. I am married to my handsome husband, Tom, and we have a daughter named Madelyn, who was born in 2014. Why did you come to work at PTCS? I moved to Chicago after a few years teaching in Ohio, because I wanted to teach in a diverse setting. I prefer teaching in a Christian school so I have the freedom to share Christ and His teachings with my students. I was really impressed with all the good work CCUC/PTC was doing in Chinatown, so I am happy to be on the team. What do you enjoy most about teaching ? What I enjoy most about teaching is the privilege I have to witness the incredible growth in a child throughout the course of the school year. It gives me incredible joy to be able to grow alongside my students and watch them become their own individual thinkers. What are your favorite moments with students? My favorite moments with students are: chatting with them after a long weekend, helping them discover great books and authors, and supporting them in becoming better writers.

I became familiar with PTCS through my work with Bright Promise, a nonprofit expanding access to Christ-centered education in the metro Chicago area. I was drawn to PTCS for its academic rigor and its Christ-centered approach to discipline, which emphasizes grace and fosters both personal and spiritual growth. I am grateful to serve in a community where God’s grace is foundational. What do you enjoy most about working at PTCS? I enjoy witnessing the students’ enthusiasm each day. From their excitement coming to school in the morning to the joy and laughter as students transition from class to class. Their love of being here is energizing and inspiring. What are your favorite moments on staff? I value spontaneous conversations with colleagues throughout the day. Despite our varied roles, we share a common commitment to supporting one another and positively impacting our students.

Elementary School Kindergarten -4th Grade Our Lower Elementary curriculum not only adheres to Illinois standard of common core but aim to provide training well above and beyond State standards and requirements. We utilize a variety of well-established curriculum such as Pearon's enVisionMath, Scholastic's history and social studies, and the FOSS modular science system along with specifically tailored Language Arts, Mandarin Chinese, Fine Arts, Computer, and Physical Education curriculum. Our goal is to acquaint students with a well-selected body of conventional knowledge and to develop a wholesome attitude towards learning. Through our curriculum, we aim to prepare lower Elementary students to evolve from an individual to a cooperative member of society while helping them acquire skills needed to grow from basic to formal learning in their Upper Elementary years and more.
