I have enjoyed several summers of serving in the JSP and Jumpstart program, and I completed a quarter in the kindergarten and fell in love with the students here at PTCS. When the opportunity arose to work here full-time, I felt it was a God send, so I answered the call to work in the Middle School. What do you e njoy most about teaching? Christian teaching is the ultimate teaching position. Students who know God or are seeking God are placed in my path. We get a chance to live out the Gospels while expanding academic knowledge. To me, that is the best of both worlds. Knowing that serving as a teacher and planting the seeds of Biblical knowledge makes all the hard work, long hours, and countless research for what else can be done worth it all. What are your favorite moments with students? My favorite moments in teaching are the 'aha' moments. Seeing the look of, "I've got it!" is priceless. Helping someone through prayer and caring and then having someone reach out to you because they know you care are moments I would not exchange for anything. Learning something new about a student or from a student is exhilarating. Moments such as those are the reasons why I love teaching.

Hometown: Chicago, IL Family: My parents, who were born and raised in Chinatown. My great grandparents immigrated from Sicily to Chicago’s Chinatown in 1900. Why did you come to work at PTCS? Pui Tak has always held a special place in place in my heart because my neighbors and piano teacher were members of Chinese Christian Union Church (CCUC), the church that has a close relationship with PTCS. They are very good people and exemplify Christian charity. I always admired how CCUC invested quality time with the youth group. So in 2022, after COVID, I came to work as an after school care teacher and a substitute teacher. I feel so blessed to be part of the PTCS school community. The teachers and staff are the best people I have ever worked with. What are your favorite moments with students? I love coming to work everyday and having the privilege to teach such wonderful children.

  • 項目總結 | Pui Tak School

關於培德 學術項目 尼希米計劃 Giving Season 2022 Dropdown 「尼希米計劃」 Dropdown 捐贈培德 More Project Nehemiah 中 Build With Us The Pui Tak Christian School Story Founded in 1953 by the Chinese Christian Union Church, Pui Tak Christian School began as Chinatown’s first preschool, created to bridge the educational gap for Chinese immigrant families. For decades, many children entered kindergarten with little English proficiency and minimal classroom readiness, facing significant disadvantages. PTCS was established to break that cycle—equipping students for success academically, socially, and spiritually. Today, PTCS is a thriving preschool, elementary, and middle school serving families in Chinatown, Bridgeport, McKinley Park, the Lower West Side, and beyond. Rooted in faith and committed to excellence, we continue to empower the next generation to reach their full potential. Now, we stand on the threshold of a new chapter—building a permanent home where generations of students will grow, lead, and thrive. Through Project Nehemiah, we are laying the foundation for a future filled with hope, opportunity, and transformation. Serving Our Community with Purpose PTCS Distinctives Commitment to Dignifying, Accessible Tuition PTCS is one of the most affordable private schools in the area, intentionally subsidizing tuition through fundraising and grants. This ensures that families who might otherwise be unable to afford a high-quality education can do so with dignity. PTCS also offers after-school and summer programs at a fraction of the cost elsewhere, so parents can continue working, attending school, and carving out a better life for their families. Missional Christian School PTCS is a missional school that is open to all families regardless of faith background. In fact, 80% of students come from non-Christian homes—yet many have embraced Christ during their time at PTCS. The school’s foundation in biblical truth ensures that every child is nurtured in an environment of love, grace, and purpose. Cultural Connection With multilingual staff in key positions, PTCS creates a welcoming environment where non-English-speaking students and parents can engage fully. The school honors Chinese heritage by celebrating cultural traditions, incorporating Mandarin into the curriculum for all ages, and employing culturally responsive practices to support students and families.
