Build With Us The Building With Purpose Campaign Project Nehemiah is the answer to a growing need—a place where more students can learn, grow, and thrive. The new campus will double capacity, provide safe outdoor spaces, and create room for innovation and community impact. Project Nehemiah is more than a building—it’s a foundation for the future. The New Pui Tak Christian School Level 1 The first floor of PTCS will welcome our youngest learners and include the Chapel Stairs, community gathering area, cafeteria, library, and specialty classrooms. Discovery Grove, the Early Childhood Education outdoor play area, will be accessible through adjacent classrooms and a central door. Additionally, a Prayer Room will be available for staff and students, providing a quiet space for reflection and prayer. Level 2 On Level 2, Kindergarten through Middle School students will have their own floor, complete with a Multipurpose Gymnasium, Language Lab and Special Education classrooms. The level also features The W Square, a terraced outdoor space accessible through the gym, designed for older students to "Wonder" and "Wander" together in an open-air setting. A Closer Look Welcome Plaza For the first time in its history, PTCS can welcome families with a protected loading zone and dedicated parking spots for morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up. Chapel Stairs Upon entering the new Pui Tak Christian School, you will be greeted by the dramatic Chapel Stairs. Designed for independent study, communal gatherings, and collaborative conversations, the Chapel Stairs will inspire learning beyond the traditional classroom. Community Hall & Three Specialized Classrooms To the left of the Chapel Stairs will be the Community Hall—an open-concept space that includes the Cafeteria, Library, and provides access to the Science Lab, Art Studio, Music Room, and adjacent outdoor classrooms. Used both during and after school, these spaces foster hands-on learning, exploration, and innovation. The Gallery At PTCS, every space is intentionally designed for learning—including the hallways. The PTCS Super Ramp will seamlessly connect the first and second floors, featuring reading cubbies, workspaces, and books integrated underneath and around it to create dynamic learning nooks for students. Gross Motor Zone The Gross Motor Zone is a dedicated space designed to help young children develop coordination, balance, and strength through active play. Featuring safe, engaging equipment and open areas for movement, it promotes physical growth, builds confidence, and supports the development of essential motor skills for early learning. Seven Early Childhood Classrooms The new PTCS campus will include one infant classroom (6 weeks to 14 months), one toddler classroom (15 to 23 months), one 2-year-old classroom, two 3-year-old preschool classrooms, and two Junior Kindergarten classrooms. Eleven Elementary & Middle School Classrooms Kindergarten through 8th grade students will have their own dedicated level, accessible via the Chapel Stairs, open ramp (pictured), or elevator, providing a space designed for their growth and development. Elementary Staff Sara Lee 3rd Grade Degrees: B.A. in Elementary Education and Math with a minor in ESL Hometown: Seoul, South Korea; I also call Uganda and Kenya my homes! Family: I have my loving parents and three wonderful sisters. I am the second child of four girls! Why did you come to work at PTCS? I had a passion for children's ministry at a young age. After graduating college, I eagerly looked for a school to teach at, but God closed all the doors. Then, God unexpectedly opened the door to PTCS through my friend. Seeing that the vision at this school matched mine, my heart was drawn to PTCS, and I am now here! What do you enjoy most about teaching ? I am a learner myself, and through my teaching experiences, I have learned so much about teaching, the subjects I teach, and the students. I also love seeing how students grow, not only academically but also socio-emotionally. What are your favorite moments with students? I love having one-on-ones with my students, talking about their lives outside of the classroom, and playing soccer and tag with them during recess. There is a lot more to students’ lives than what we see in the classroom!

PreK (3-year-old) to 8th Grade Application Guidelines Read More Toddler Program (2-year-old) Application Guidelines Read More PreK - 8 Application Preschool - 8th Grade Application Guidelines Step One: Complete the appropriate application form and return it to the PTCS school office at admissions@puitakschool.org , or in person during business hours (Mon - Fri 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.). While the office is open at specified times, we suggest emailing your application to decrease wait time. PRESCHOOL APPLICATION K - 8TH GRADE APPLICATION Step Two: Preschool We accept preschool applications at any time throughout the year. Your child must be three years old by September 1st of the desired school year. Following the submission of your application, PTCS office staff will contact you by phone to schedule an educational consultation. If your application is submitted by November 1st, your child will take part in a group assessment in early December. In November, the office staff will contact you to schedule an appointment for the assessment. On the day of the assessment, parents are required to pay a $60 assessment fee. If your application is submitted after November 1st, your child will have a one-on-one consultation with the principal. On the day of the consult, parents are required to pay a $60 non-refundable consultation fee. Elementary & Middle School We accept kindergarten, elementary, and middle school applications on a rolling basis throughout the year. Following the submission of your application, PTCS office staff will contact you by phone to schedule an educational consultation. In that meeting, the principal or vice principal will get to know your family and do an assessment of your child to determine grade-level placement. It is advised that both the student and parent/s are present during this meeting. Educational consultations require a non-refundable $60 fee, due on your child’s consult day. Step Three: After the meeting, applicants will receive an acceptance letter with enrollment forms via email, or an alternative recommendation for the child's educational path. Please Note: Upon acceptance, to guarantee a place, a one-time $60 registration fee and one-month tuition deposit will be required. Overview Proposal Summary Principal Bonnie Ho's Open Letter Tax-Wise Giving Project Nehemiah Facebook Latest Updates Dear Friend, A blessed Easter to you and your families! And a praise report to you on project Nehemiah! With God’s provision, your support and prayers, on April 18, 2019, Pui Tak Christian School have closed on the property located on 3118-3140 S. Canal Street, Chicago, IL 60616 with the purchasing price of $3.53 million! We were able to close on the deal with over $2.4 million in donations, $300,000 bank loan and $850,000 in personal and organizational loans. The plan is to pay back the loans as quickly as possible before entering into the final phase of Project Nehemiah. In witnessing how God worked among people and gathered the resources together in the last 14 months, we have reasons to believe He is still at work. The school has budgeted 24 months from the closing of the property to prepare for the final phase of Project Nehemiah, that includes obtaining all the necessary permits, finishing architectural design and drawings, and fundraising for the construction of the school facility. There is much to be thankful for during this Easter season, I thank you for your partnership in this endeavor, God has blessed the school through you. Besides counting on your steadfast prayers, I also need your ideas and referrals. There are much to be done before the actual construction begins, please make referrals if you think there are certain people I should meet and please do not hold back your creative ideas. Preschool students who only spoke Chinese would finally have a place to learn English and classroom readiness skills in preparation for Kindergarten in Chicago Public Schools. In addition to founding the school, Ms. Helen Case served as the first director. She served in this position for the next 35 years. 1989 Ms. Helen Case retires from CCUC Nursery School. Mrs. Sylvia Wu, PTCS’s second director and eventual Principal, begins her tenure. 2001 CCUC transfers Pui Tak Christian School operations to Pui Tak Center. 2012 Mrs. Sylvia Wu retires as Principal from Pui Tak Christian School. After 23 years of service, she continues to volunteer at the school up until today. Mrs. Bonnie Ho, the school’s third Principal, begins her tenure. 2017 PTCS graduates its first class of 8th grade students. PTCS becomes an independent entity. 2018 Capital Campaign: Project Nehemiah Phase I launches. 2019 Closes the deal on the 3.53 million property on 3120-3040 S. Canal St. Exceeds the 3.5 million fundraising goal. Project Nehemiah Phase I is complete. 2020 The celebration of the completion of Project Nehemiah Phase I is interrupted by the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Fundraising efforts are redirected to meet urgent family needs, including tuition assistant, rent support, and grocery expenses. 2023 The quiet phase of Project Nehemiah Phase II begins. The school is positioning to launch Project Nehemiah Phase II with the total fundraising goal of $32 million. May 18, 2024 Project Nehemiah Phase II launches with its benefit concert “Streams of Grace, Steps of Faith,” featuring legendary Taiwanese recording artist, Jeanette Wang, and mother and son piano duo, Two Piano Journey. Soon after the concert, PTCS reaches 30% of its $32 million goal. September 2024 PTCS hires The Future Firm as its architectural design firm. They rapidly begin work on the building program, and is diligently working with the school team in designing the new school building. However, PTCS believes that to support ALL students, a different measuring tape must also be employed, and that is our God-given perspective on His creation: the children whom parents have entrusted to us. The key to ensuring that each child is actively engaged often hinges on what we see in him or her and how well we appreciate each child’s God-given potential. There is one student, whom I will call “John,” who is always talkative and often wreaks havoc in the school. Because he often talks back and out of turn, some would see him as a troublesome, disruptive, and rebellious student. After spending time with John, I noticed that he is a person who seeks the truth and has a strong desire to help others understand the truth. I see a jewel inside of John. I see a future preacher in him. And, it is up to the teachers and parents to help John learn discipline in self-expression. I am often told that what sets our teachers apart is how they see beyond a child’s outward misbehaviors and catch a glimpse of his or her unique potential. We also see this reflected in how Jesus views people such as Simon. When Jesus first met Simon, He gave him a new name: Cephas, the Aramaic equivalent of Petros (Peter), which means “rock.” If there was anything Peter was not, it was a rock. A rock is a symbol of firmness and steadiness of character, but Peter was impulsive, hotheaded, and inconsistent. We see a Simon, but God sees a Peter, a great apostle. In the same way, we ask God to help us see each child with His eyes so that we seek not to see students just for what they are now, but for what they can become. It is our desire to partner with parents in the education, growth, and development of the young people who attend PTCS. We have very exciting days ahead at PTCS. I have always been passionate about providing a Biblical education and worldview for children in diverse settings. After spending much time in prayer, and learning of the many ways this school serves the community, I knew PTCS was a school I wanted to be a part of. How has working here changed you? I have learned how to be more disciplined and a better planner. I have also learned the importance of flexibility and patience as many unexpected things can happen in a day! What are your favorite office moments? Conversations with students! I love talking with students during their free time, subbing for a class, or walking a student to the office or class. They often say things that are hilarious, deep, or unexpected. One of my favorite things is when I am talking to a student and they bring up a point I taught in Chapel months ago that I wouldn't expect them to remember and hear how their knowledge of the Lord has grown.

Elementary Staff Angela Osgood 4th Grade Degrees: Science in Elementary Education, BS Hometown: Midvale, Ohio Family: Growing up, I was the youngest of 3; I have an older sister and an older brother. I am married to my handsome husband, Tom, and we have a daughter named Madelyn, who was born in 2014. Why did you come to work at PTCS? I moved to Chicago after a few years teaching in Ohio, because I wanted to teach in a diverse setting. I prefer teaching in a Christian school so I have the freedom to share Christ and His teachings with my students. I was really impressed with all the good work CCUC/PTC was doing in Chinatown, so I am happy to be on the team. What do you enjoy most about teaching ? What I enjoy most about teaching is the privilege I have to witness the incredible growth in a child throughout the course of the school year. It gives me incredible joy to be able to grow alongside my students and watch them become their own individual thinkers. What are your favorite moments with students? My favorite moments with students are: chatting with them after a long weekend, helping them discover great books and authors, and supporting them in becoming better writers.
