At this time, we offer full-time enrollment only. How is the classroom set up for 2-year-old students? Classrooms are designed with safe, accessible materials and defined areas for play, rest, and learning. What is the teacher-to-student ratio? We maintain a 1:8 ratio, with a maximum of 16 students per classroom. What qualifications do teachers have? Our lead teachers hold Early Childhood Education degrees, are State-certified, and receive specialized training in early childhood development, guidance, and safety. What does a typical day look like for my child? Each day includes a balance of play, learning, meals, rest, and movement in a predictable routine How do you handle diapering and hygiene? We follow strict hygiene protocols aligned with CDC and DCFS guidelines, including handwashing and sanitation procedures. How do you ensure my child’s safety throughout the day? Children are supervised at all times by trained staff. Classrooms are designed for visibility and safety, and staff follow established procedures. What kind of meals and snacks are provided? Meals are nutritionally balanced and modified to reduce choking risks. Staff supervise all meals. Will my child be forced to nap? No. Children are given the opportunity to rest but are not forced to sleep. How do you support children with separation anxiety? We provide a gentle arrival process, warm interactions, and consistent routines to help children feel secure. Why did you come to work at PTCS? I have chosen to work at Pui Tak Christian School because of its clear vision to serve and equip children for success in all areas of life. I deeply value the school’s commitment to nurturing students not only in their academic growth, but also in their spiritual development and character formation, grounded in Christ-centered principles. What do you enjoy most about teaching ? I enjoy helping students with homework and Bible studies, and I find great joy in sharing God’s love and faithfulness through examples from Scripture. What are your favorite moments with students? My favorite moments with students are during playful and interactive times, like dodgeball in gym class, where I often end up alone being chased by all the children—it’s always full of laughter and energy. I also love when they ask me silly riddles and enjoy seeing their excitement when I don’t know the answer. These moments, big or small, create joyful memories and strengthen the bond I share with them.

Board Director Ms. Sarah Tang Sarah Tang is the Program Director at Coalition for a Better Chinese American Community, where she oversees youth empowerment, small business support, and digital literacy programs. She began her career in Chinatown at Pui Tai Christian School as the first development coordinator and assisted Principal Ho in launching Project Nehemiah. She holds a Master of Arts degree in Nonprofit Management and Social Sector Leadership from University of Chicago’s Crown School of Social Work, Policy, and Practice.

Specials & Middle School Staff Erika Huizenga-Kim K-8 Art & 5th-8th Grade History Degrees: Elementary Education, BA, Trinity College Hometown: Highland, IN Family: I have a large extended family, but my immediate family consists of my parents, two older sisters, one younger sister, two younger brothers, and two brothers-in-law. Why did you come to work at PTCS? I love the community and support from fellow co-workers at Christian schools. After finishing up my teaching job overseas, I wanted to move back to the Chicagoland area and teach in a Christian school. Having a working environment where that is Christ-centered is such a blessing. What are your favorite moments with students? My favorite moments have been watching students get creative in art class. It’s always fascinating watching students create artwork. You get to see them use their imagination, improve their skills, problem-solve, and sometimes try something new. Elementary Staff Angela Osgood 4th Grade Degrees: Science in Elementary Education, BS Hometown: Midvale, Ohio Family: Growing up, I was the youngest of 3; I have an older sister and an older brother. I am married to my handsome husband, Tom, and we have a daughter named Madelyn, who was born in 2014. Why did you come to work at PTCS? I moved to Chicago after a few years teaching in Ohio, because I wanted to teach in a diverse setting. I prefer teaching in a Christian school so I have the freedom to share Christ and His teachings with my students. I was really impressed with all the good work CCUC/PTC was doing in Chinatown, so I am happy to be on the team. What do you enjoy most about teaching ? What I enjoy most about teaching is the privilege I have to witness the incredible growth in a child throughout the course of the school year. It gives me incredible joy to be able to grow alongside my students and watch them become their own individual thinkers. What are your favorite moments with students? My favorite moments with students are: chatting with them after a long weekend, helping them discover great books and authors, and supporting them in becoming better writers.

PTCS Leadership Bonnie Ho Principal Guided by the Hebrew proverb “A child is not a vessel to be filled, but a lamp to be lit,” Bonnie entered the field of education to spark the inner curiosity of children. As Principal of Pui Tak Christian School in Chicago, a school that emphasizes both academic achievement and character building of its students, her greatest desire is to be God’s instrument to impact lives through Christian Education. Besides being the Principal of PTCS, Bonnie also serves on the Board of Directors at Far East Broadcasting Company, U.S.A. Bonnie holds graduate degrees from Concordia University, Moody Theological Seminary, and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Prior to her appointment with PTCS, Bonnie served as Director of Children’s Ministry at Chinese Christian Union Church-South and as Board of Director of the Moody Alumni Association. She has received recognition from the Gateways Credential Program and is a Northwestern Kellogg Executive Scholar in Nonprofit Management.
