November 2015 Newsletter

Dear Parents,

Ever since CPS announced budget cuts and layoffs for 2016, I have been thinking more about the future of our education. I think of school closures and teacher layoffs.I think of student teachers who need a certain amount of hours to graduate, but need replacement schools to help make-up hours. I think of all the educational programs that stopped receiving money since July and how many were strongly funded by the state. I think of possible teacher union strikes during the 2015-2016 school year and how it will affect students, families, and our school. How long do we have to endure this battle every year?

As the educational system is breaking down around us, I am thankful for PTCS. It provides a stable learning environment with committed teachers and parents who put many hours into protecting its environment. I am thankful for committed parents and ask you again for help so PTCS can remain a strong and nurturing ground for our students.

You may be asking yourself, “How do I, as a parent, support the school? How do I help build a strong school?” By supporting your child and getting involved. Be more attentive to school activities. Be an advocate for the school and invite other families to send their children here. Give to help build funding for expansion. If you know people who are passionate about urban education, get them involved in this mission with you! Make a connection and build a bridge for them to get involved.

School expansion is our dream, but we can’t reach this goal without help from those who believe in this school and support it. Help us develop and build PTCS for the generations to come, for His kingdom. In His service, Bonnie Ho
