Why did you come to work at PTCS?

I first started working at PTCS as an acting teacher in 2019 in the enrichment program offered after school. I had also been attending Chinese Christian Union Church for a while and was fascinated by the fact that the same space was used for a school. I helped PTCS with the Christmas program for two years in a row, and took great joy in working with the children to put on a production for the community. I came to work at PTCS because I believe that each child has the potential to express themselves fully through language, voice, and presence.

What do you enjoy most about teaching?

I love teaching because each day I show up, I am witness to what God is doing in the lives of these children. Every moment I see a spark in a child’s eyes, or get to encourage a little one with words of affirmation is a special memory I cherish in my heart. I believe it is an honor to be able to help children gain confidence, learn life skills, and love others well.

What are your favorite moments with students?

I love watching children play acting games. Kids are so free and creative; Professional actors often try to regain that child-like quality of expression. My favorite moments are when I get to see kids being themselves. It’s a beautiful thing to be able to encourage kids that they have permission to do beyond what they had previously imagined possible.
