COVID - 19

The PTCS COVID-19 Protocol is based on careful studies of government guidelines and medical professionals' input on what is most appropriate for each age group. This plan will remain in place until federal, state, and local governments advise otherwise.

Mask Optional Model

Beginning the 2022-23 school year, PTCS does not require face masks or coverings for students and staff on campus. However, all students should always keep extra clean masks in their backpacks in case a situation calls for it.

PTCS Administration strongly encourages the use of masks, considering the community transmission of the school is high. PTCS serves many families that work in high traffic and transmission areas such as nail salons, restaurants, and the health industry. The PTCS community also has members 60 years or older and staff with significant others at increased risk for severe reactions if infected with COVID-19. All students and staff are called to respect each other's choices.

Open Communication

Communication is of vital importance. Therefore, if your child or household member tests positive, please report it to sladmin@puitakschool.org as soon as possible.

If a student in your child's class tests positive, you will be notified and all students and teachers associated with the class will be required to present a negative result from a rapid test (home or lab) before returning to class.

Mandatory Testing Days

COVID testing will be required for certain events and after major breaks, even if your child did not travel. These events include the first day of school, Thanksgiving Break,* Winter Break*, and Spring Break*.

*Aayu Clinics will provide COVID testing at school.

Mandatory weekly COVID testing may be necessary for the colder months. PTCS will collaborate with Aayu Clinics to provide COVID testing if health insurance is provided. If health insurance is not provided, please make your own arrangements to take a COVID test before arriving at school on-site.
