Frequently Asked Questions Q What grades do you offer? A PTCS offers 3 and 4 year old preschool and elementary grades K-8. Q Do you have before and after school care? A PTCS offers before (8:00am–9:00am) and after school care (3:00pm–5:30pm), Homework Club (3:00pm–4:00pm), as well as a variety of after school enrichment classes (3:00pm–4:00pm). See the Tuition and Fee insert for costs of these programs. Q How many students are there in the school? A The enrollment for the 2009-2010 school year is 134 students for the preschool and elementary grades. Q How old do children have to be to start preschool? Kindergarten? A Preschool children must be 3 years old on or before September 1st. Children must be able to toilet themselves independently. For kindergarten, a child must be 5 years old on or before September 1st of the school year. Q Do you serve a hot lunch? A A hot lunch is provided each school day for a nominal fee. PTCS offers a varied menu of Chinese and American food. Q Do you provide transportation? A No. Our families come from various neighborhoods. Carpools can be arranged with the assistance of the school office. Q Do you have a financial aid program? A There is a discount for families with more than one student in the kindergarten and grade school classes. PTCS offers financial aid based on need. For preschool age and Before and After School care for K-8 students, Illinois provides child care subsidies for low income families that qualify. Contact the school office for more information and the necessary forms. Q What are the requirements for acceptance? A PTCS accepts applications for admission to the next school year at anytime. Administrative staff will review your child’s application as soon as all the necessary forms are received. Parents must agree for their child to be taught by the Biblical principles outlined in the Statement of Faith. Q Are you associated with a particular church or denomination? A The school is a program of the Pui Tak Center, the community center started by the Chinese Christian Union Church (CCUC). The Pui Tak Christian School, the Pui Tak Center, and CCUC take the Bible seriously and seek to teach and live out Christian values and principles.
